Parent Champion Workshop Series

The Office of Family Engagement and Equity is hosting a series of parent/guardian/family workshops.
The purpose of this workshop series is to EMPOWER parents to use their social, economic, and parent capital to leverage parent voice with strategic action so that underserved students of color achieve better academic outcomes.

Who:    Parents/Guardians/Caregivers & those who love them

When:  3 Saturdays this school year: Dec. 3, 2016, March 4 & April 29
Time:    9:30 AM – 12 noon
Where:  BUSD Board Room, 2020 Bonar Street (entrance on Addison St.)

Session 1 – Dec. 3, 2016:

The history of our school system; the critical need for parent advocacy; HOW to advocate in this system we call “public education in the era of LCAP”…get and use the data to serve your child’s needs!

Session 2 -March 4, 2017:

The mindset, values, and skill-sets of “educational parenting”; how to navigate in schools and districts.

Session 3 – April 29, 2017:

Empower parents with the tools to support their children’s academic success, and develop a plan to prevent Summer Learning Loss.
Preparing for the next school year – it’s NOT “too early”, and Awards Celebration.
