Parent Liaisons help schools and families connect to support student success. Only a few of our schools currently have parent liaisons working at the school site. Through the community work on the 2020 Vision, the 2011 Communications Study, and parent surveys, and in reviewing the research, it became clear that resources for parent engagement would have a greater impact working with families in the schools. Presentations on the proposed Parent Liaison Program model for the district were made on January 9th and 17th to gather family and community input. This information will be used in creating the plan that will go before the Board sometime in March. At the January 17th meeting, Superintendent William Huyett and Board Member Beatriz Leyva-Cutler said it will not go to the Board in February as anticipated, because the Board wants to insure that there is sufficient time for the community to review the proposal first. When the proposal does go to the Board, it will be a two step process (first and second reading), allowing an additional opportunity for feedback.
