Berkeley High freshman Motayo “Tayo” Ogunmayin just returned from Washington D.C. where President Barack Obama hosted the second White House Science Fair on February 7th and 8th. The fair celebrated the student winners of a broad range of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) competitions from across the country. The fair recognized over 100 students from more than 45 states, representing over 40 different competitions and organizations that work with students and inspire them to excel in STEM.
Berkeley High freshman Motayo “Tayo” Ogunmayin and Eva Perez, from Envision High School in Oakland, CA were invited because of their work together with Girls Inc. They competed in an AC Transit competition for green solutions, and their design for a solar bus won them the award for Most Innovative Design. You can hear Tayo share her experience in this short video clip.
