The San Francisco Chronicle’s Education Reporter Jill Tucker reported on our District’s success with improved attendance. Investment in staff and strategies has paid off with more students in their seats each day and less budget cutting. As Superintendent Huyett explained to Tucker (about the $250,000 investment in increased attendance staffing), “It was money well spent. The reason we focused on attendance was (student) achievement. The financial was a side benefit and came in much stronger than we thought.”
Great photos of our students at Malcolm X Elementary, where attendance is at 97% this year, also accompanied the story.
