King Middle School welcomed guests of the U.S. State Dept, representing 19 African nations, traveling to the Bay Area under the auspices of the International Visitor Leadership Program. Their program is focused on supporting victims of violence. The visitors received a thorough overview from King staff of California’s Child Abuse Reporting Law and the guidance given to educators on identifying potential victims and the process of reporting.
Principal Janet Levenson and King’s three counselors gave detailed answers to thoughtful questions, all with the help of simultaneous interpretation. After the presentation, the visitors enjoyed a tour of the Edible Schoolyard, the garden, pizza oven and the kitchen.
