The Berkeley Alliance hosted the 2020 IN ACTION Symposium on October 11th, giving Berkeley’s update on the 2020 Vision Initiative to close the achievement gap. For an audience of about 150 parents, educators and community leaders, the program began with dinner and a welcome from Mayor Tom Bates representing the City of Berkeley, Co-Superintendents of Schools Neil Smith and Javetta Cleveland, and UC Berkeley’s Associate Chancellor Linda Williams, all community partners in the 2020 Vision.
From there the group broke up into a number of breakout groups, including a data presentation by Debbi D’Angelo, BUSD’s Director of Evaluation & Assessment on the Class of 2020 and more.
