The Berkeley High School Ultimate Frisbee team competed in the California State Championship tournament May 19-20, sponsored by USA Ultimate in San Luis Obispo, and were crowned State Champions after beating the nine-time repeat winners from Alameda in the finals by the score of 11-6! The team is now 18-3 on the season and is ranked #7 in the nation!
The team, started in 2006, is captained by Rio Chuck (senior/University of Puget Sound) and Dylan Owens (junior), and includes Colby Chuck, Nick Fox, Sequoya Daniels, Rae Dallett, Nathan Pettyjohn, Lito Avila, Ian Sweeney and Chris Orman. The roster contains 26 players on the A (varsity) team and another 24 on the B (JV) team.
Berkeley High will be competing in the Western United States Championships in Corvallis, Oregon on June 1st and 2nd, and hopes to bring home another victory as they face off against powerhouse rivals from all across the western United States.
