March 26, 2014 – The Board of Education held a brief ribbon cutting in BUSD’s new Board Room, before starting their first meeting in the new state of the art facility, which is adjacent to the BUSD Administrative Offices on Addison near Bonar Street. Board Meetings had formerly been held at the Maudelle Shirek Building (Old City Hall), a historic but crumbling building which has long been declared seismically unsafe. The renovated facility will be used for board, district and community meetings, and was funded by BUSD Construction Bond Measures A and AA. The 51 bus line and adjacent parking on Browning Street should make public attendance convenient, while broadcasting on Channel 33 and on KPFB 89.3 will continue to provide public access for those at home.
