Approximately 150 students from Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Oakland Tech and McClymonds High Schools, and from the Groundwork Richmond Project, went to school together on April 11th for STEM Awareness Day. Hosted by the Institute for STEM Education at CSU East Bay in partnership with Bayer Healthcare, Wareham Development, UC Berkeley, Berkeley City College, and the East Bay EDA, students from several cities gathered together to learn about the many interesting STEM-related career paths open to them.
As a way for students to capture their perspective and experiences on STEM Career Awareness Day, Wareham Development provided every student with a video camera, and a challenge. The best student video producer was to be awarded with a first place prize of $500 and a private theater showing of the winning video. As you can see in one of the photos below, the students were already making use of the cameras to document what they saw and heard.
