Local Control & Accountability Plan Draft Two – follows the state-mandated plan template
Thank you to all those who have provided comments on the first draft of the LCAP. The Superintendent and Board have received valuable feedback, and are in the process of reviewing public comments, as well as those submitted by the Parent Advisory Committee and District English Learner Advisory Committee.
The second LCAP draft was published May 9th ahead of the May 14th Board meeting. This draft includes revisions and clarifications for many of the goals, services and activities in the plan, and also includes a background introduction and executive summary of the Plan which provides more context for the plan. (links above)
The public comment period will close at 4:00pm on May 15th, with the exception for the Parent Advisory Committee and District English Learner Advisory Committee. Members will discuss the plan that evening at their regularly scheduled meeting. (Please submit comments either by email to lcap@berkeley.net, or by letter to: Superintendent Donald Evans, 2020 Bonar St. Berkeley, CA, 94704.)
Important Note about the Purpose of the LCAP
The Local Control & Accountability Plan is mandated under the new funding formula for K-12 public education in California. The plan includes a focus on identifying effective programs, services, and practices to serve the needs of low income, English learners, and foster youth in our schools. The plan must also address certain state priorities for all students. The LCAP is not a comprehensive strategic plan for Berkeley Unified School District, but rather a subset of broader district goals.
