Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) recently honored nineteen teachers who represent excellence in teaching in Alameda County school districts, and were selected as ACOE’s 2014 Teachers of the Year. Berkeley High teacher Glenn Wolkenfeld represented Berkeley as he lit up the awards ceremony with one of his unique raps.
A biology teacher at Berkeley High School, Mr. Wolkenfeld is known for using rap and other creative methods to engage his students in a subject he loves. The effectiveness of his methods was clear when one of the other teachers, who followed Mr. Wolkenfeld, began her comments by reflecting on his rap, “I just want to say that I want to sign up for Glenn’s biology class!”
See photos of the awards ceremony and video of Glenn’s rap, as well as photos from an earlier visit to his classroom by Superintendents Sheila Jordan and Donald Evans.
