Currently “Walk Man” is holding short assemblies to teach students about traffic safety, and just last week he made his way to Berkeley Arts Magnet Elementary School.
Safe Routes to School is a federally funded program that partners with many of our elementary schools, and works with parent “champions” to address traffic safety around the school. Safe Routes to Schools provides parent training, demonstrations and student education through grants to our schools, and is responsible for this year’s “Walk Man” appearances around town.
If you are interested in what’s happening at your child’s school, ask for the name of your school’s parent champion.
