To help parents, teachers, and school leaders know whether students are on the path to success, states joined together to develop improved tests of student achievement in alignment with the Common Core State Standards. The Smarter Balanced Assessments are replacing previous state standardized tests in English and math for grades 3-8 and high school in the 2014-15 school year. Administered online, these new assessments will adapt to each student’s ability, giving teachers and parents better information to help students succeed.
Join us on the evening of April 9th for a parent workshop on how these new Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) are being administered and used in the Berkeley Unified School District. The evening will be held in the Longfellow Middle School cafeteria, Thursday, April 9 from 6:30 – 8 pm, 1500 Derby Street at Sacramento. Following a brief presentation from district leaders involved in the SBA implementation, there will be time allotted for a question and answer period, as well as family time to explore the online testing tool. Childcare will be provided.
