Robert MacCarthy, better known as Mr. Mac, is a 6th grade teacher at Willard Middle School whose creative ways are leading innovation in math instruction and drawing attention beyond Berkeley. Soul Pancake is a production company, whose sought-after videos are often featured on Oprah Winfrey’s programs, and recently selected Mr. Mac, as one of four teachers to profile from nominations across the state. Their recently released video illustrates how Mr. Mac taps into his students’ own creativity to generate excitement about math, and shines a light on the length teachers such as Mr. Mac go to engage students in their learning.
