African stew, fresh garden salad and orange zest cake brought in enough online orders to keep Willard’s Growing Leaders program on track for their fundraising budget. During a year-long series of planning, growing, cooking, and marketing seasonally-inspired meals, students learn to become entrepreneurs with the support of Willard mentors, teachers, and parents.
The Growing Leaders Program helps sustain and build upon Willard’s gardening and cooking program through the sale of take-out meals, produce, vegetable starts, and “Farm Store” products such as salsa, pickles and applesauce. The program raised $32,000 last year and is on track to raise $35,000 this year. You can order their February meal on line.
