Artful messaging created by students in the Arts and Humanities Academy (AHA) at Berkeley High School is now hanging in all of our schools as a way to let all students, families, staff, and visitors know that they are welcome in our schools. When asked to help spread positive messages of community and unity that are embodied in the values of the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD), BHS teacher Miriam Stahl’s student artists rose to the occasion with this vibrant array of posters.
A special thank you to artists: Akiva-Axelrod Hausman, Ayame Keane-Lee, Neelam Khan, Chia-Chen Lin, Joshua Males, Marikit Mayeno, Tala Parker, Hana Robertson, Audrey Washington. Each artist’s name is listed on the bottom of the poster below.
The student art is accompanied by new signage noting BUSD’s values and the commitment of the Berkeley Board of Education as expressed in recent board policies and resolutions: In Our Schools En Nuestras Escuelas
