For the first time in this century, the Berkeley High boys tennis team claimed the crown of conference champions this spring. (Or half of it – sharing it with Piedmont High.)
It’s been 23 years since the team won the title for their league, the West Alameda County Conference (WACC).
The team, with a 14-3 record this year, also performed impressively in the North Coast Section regional playoffs against other top teams, losing only in the semifinals on May 13 to the tournament’s ultimate winner, Dougherty Valley, which went undefeated (19-0) this year.
