Festivity filled the Longfellow Middle School cafeteria on June 6 when students and family members gathered to celebrate English Language Learners who’ve attained English proficiency.
The annual Reclassification Ceremony honored the 98 students who were certified as fluent this year.
“Congratulations on a job well-done,” Superintendent Donald Evans told the gathering. School Board member Beatriz Leyva-Cutler noted that 20 languages were represented. “It’s a major event,” she said.
