Next up in the Superintendent’s Speaker Series is Dr. Prudence L. Carter, Dean of the Berkeley Graduate School of Education. Dr. Carter is engaging and thought provoking.
Dr. Carter’s expertise ranges from issues of youth identity and race, class, and gender; urban poverty; social and cultural inequality; the sociology of education; and mixed research methods. She examines academic and mobility differences shaped by the effects of race, ethnicity, class, and gender.
During the evening’s program, Dean Carter will address how our school communities can foster empathy among students, families, and staff from varied social backgrounds as we teach, learn, communicate, and interact in ways that can fortify our democracy. She’ll help us think about the role each of us plays in promoting integration and educational equity. Superintendent Evans will also invite the audience to ask Dr. Carter questions and engage with the ideas offered during her presentation.
