October 21–25 is National School Bus Safety Week, a public education program designed to promote school bus safety.
It is the mission of the Berkeley Unified School District Transportation Department to support the academic achievement of our students by providing for the safe operation of a school transportation service. We believe that pupil transportation enhances the educational opportunities of our children. We are dedicated to providing courteous and professional service to our customers at all times. Berkeley students are our priority. The safety of our students is our primary concern.
Five Rules for Safe Riding
1. Follow the instructions of your bus driver
2. Remain seated at all times
3. Keep your head and arms inside the bus at all times
4. Please no loud talking or boisterous conduct.
5. Please no eating or drinking on the bus.
Parents and Guardians Can Help
Parents and guardians are expected to have their children at the bus stop on time, waiting in a safe area before the school bus arrives and to inform their children that they are to maintain good behavior at the bus stop as well as on the school bus. The District needs parent and guardian assistance and cooperation to maintain a timely, reliable and safe service.
