BUSD is continuing to host Town Hall meetings to discuss the plan for Fall 2020, in advance of the first day of instruction on Monday, August 17. Recordings of the August 6 (English) and August 6 (Spanish) Town Halls can be found on the Berkeley Unified School District YouTube channel.
Special Education Town Hall – Monday, August 10
On Monday, August 10 a Town Hall is being held for parents and caregivers of students receiving Special Education services. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm and can be accessed at this Zoom Link.
This Town Hall meeting is an opportunity for our community to learn more from district leadership, including Superintendent Brent Stephens; Associate Superintendent, Educational Services Bajé Thiara; Executive Director of Special Education Shawn Mansager; and Berkeley High School Interim Principal Juan Raygoza about how Special Education services will be provided to students during Fall 2020.
On Friday, July 31, BUSD families received an email with a link to the district’s Distance Learning plan for Fall 2020. A Spanish language Distance Learning plan for Fall 2020 is now also available.
The plan includes sample schedules and descriptions of BUSD’s redesigned distance learning program. Families that do not receive district emails can write to myemail@berkeley.net, including their contact information and student’s full name and school, to be sure the District has their correct contact information.
Black/African American Affinity Town Hall – Tuesday, Aug 11
BUSD is hosting an African American/Black affinity Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, August 11. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm and can be accessed at this Zoom Link.
This Town Hall will be an opportunity for parents and caregivers of Black/African American students to learn more from Superintendent Brent Stephens and other district leadership about the Distance Learning plan for Fall 2020 instruction.
