The Berkeley High School boys basketball team achieved a historic milestone, clinching third place in the North Coast Section (NCS). The Yellowjackets host the first round of the State Tournament against Ripon Christian on Tuesday, March 4 at 7:00 PM. Since this is the playoffs, staff must purchase a ticket. Get your tickets here and let’s show our support.

A free screening of The Truth About Reading: The Invisible Crisis Hiding in Plain Sight will be held at BUSD’s West Campus Theater. Brought to you by the North Region Selpa Community Advisory Committee and the Berkeley Public Schools Fund, the documentary’s mission is to ignite a movement promoting high-level literacy for all. This event offers a unique glimpse into our vibrant learning environment and is perfect for families with children approaching the enrollment age of 2.9 to five years old. Students must be three by Dec 1 of the current school year to enroll.

The 7th Annual Black History Oratorical Fest (BHOF), a community event celebrating the contributions of Black/African Americans through artistic expression. This year’s theme, “A Reclamation of Narrative: The Cultural Revolution of the Harlem Renaissance,” will explore the historical context, visionaries, and artistic messages of this pivotal era.

In March, BUSD’s regular School Board meetings will be held on Wednesday March 5 and 19. Open session begins at 7:00PM at 1231 Addison Street and virtually on Zoom. Learn more about School Board meetings and how to attend virtually HERE.
Beginning March 4 all BUSD schools will be participating in the March Madness Attendance Challenge, a bracket-style tournament where schools compete for the highest attendance rate. Remember to do your part for your school, as good attendance helps students succeed in school and bolsters their self-esteem.
